Our Inspiration:

Brian T. Rounds

Brian T. Rounds is the late son of our Executive Director and the brother of our Program Director. He was born in 1988 in St. Louis, Missouri and his family moved to Atlanta shortly after his birth. Brian graduated from Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville, GA and attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. After taking courses at Georgia Southern, Brian realized that he was not interested in taking general college courses and instead wanted to follow his passion, which was repairing and customizing motorcycles.

Brian applied for and was invited to attend the prestigious Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) in Phoenix, Arizona. MMI is known for producing the best motorcycle mechanics in the U.S., and Brian became a part of this group when he graduated at the top of his class as a certified Suzuki Motorcycle Mechanic in May of 2008.

After graduation, Brian returned to Atlanta to prepare for a career in motorcycle customization as well as work on a plan to start his own motorcycle club. Unfortunately, he was not able to fulfill this goal. When riding with some friends on December 18th, 2008, Brian lost control of his motorcycle and passed away in a single-person accident at the age of 20.

Brian lived every day like it was his last, and this is the concept that BTRYA strives to exude through our programs. Some young people may not want to follow the path of traditional college programs, and these young people may be naturally skilled in other trades. Therefore, if someone can enhance their life and help them fulfill their passion by pursuing a career in the trade of their choice, they should be able to do so. It is BTRYA's mission to ensure that each person that wants to pursue a career in a specific trade can make this a reality by providing as much support as we possibly can.
